British And Irish Lions Player Ratings | Test 3 Vs. Wallabies In Sydney

Australia avoided a series whitewash with a gritty 22-12 victory over the British and Irish Lions in a storm-disrupted contest in Sydney.

The Wallabies brought a physical edge and defensive bite that left the Lions short on answers, closing out the tour on a high before The Rugby Championship.

Having already sealed the series a week ago in Melbourne, questions were being asked ahead of kickoff about whether the Lions could maintain their intensity.

Overall, while they certainly didn't roll over, the Lions no doubt will park their disappointment and celebrate long into the Sydney night.

Here’s how the Lions rated in the series finale:

Lions Player Ratings

1. Andrew Porter – 4

Struggled mightily at scrum time, repeatedly penalized for angling in under pressure from Taniela Tupou. Worked hard around the field with 12 tackles but never recovered from an early set-piece onslaught.

2. Dan Sheehan – 6

Solid all-round performance, aside from a couple of disrupted lineouts.

Carried for 21 meters and made 16 tackles.

A reliable figure in a tough environment.

3. Tadhg Furlong – 7

Rock-solid at tighthead.

Held his ground well and put in 13 tackles in another workmanlike shift.

One of the Lions' most consistent performers.

4. Maro Itoje (C) – 5

Lasted just 27 minutes before failing an HIA.

Made 12 tackles and two line-out wins before exiting.

Tried to assert himself, but Australia’s niggle tactics—led by Nic White—got under his skin.

5. James Ryan – 8

Outstanding until injury ended his game late in the first half.

Made 13 tackles, dominated the line-out and went toe-to-toe with Will Skelton.

A return to form for the Leinster man.

6. Tadhg Beirne – 7

Made key interventions, including a clutch turnover and a maul disruption that stopped a certain Wallaby score.

Always involved and always physical.

7. Tom Curry – 8.5

The Lions’ best.

Made 22 tackles and brought ferocity to every collision.

Kept Will Skelton honest with a dominant defensive outing.

Left the field on 63 minutes with his side still in the fight.

8. Jack Conan – 7

Linked well in attack and worked across the park.

Led all Lions forwards in carries (nine) and made 14 tackles in a typically industrious outing.

9. Jamison Gibson-Park – 6

Steady in tough conditions.

Delivered 53 passes, box-kicked effectively and kept the attack ticking as best he could behind a retreating pack.

10. Finn Russell – 6

Mixed bag.

A sublime cross-field kick to Huw Jones and a clever nudge into touch showed his flair, but risky long passes and unforced errors cost momentum.

11. Blair Kinghorn – 4

Excellent in the air, but his loose pass led to Jorgensen’s try—and his lack of urgency in chasing back was costly.

12. Bundee Aki – 4

Ran hard but was well-marshalled by the Wallabies.

Several uncharacteristic errors, including knock-ons and turnovers, marred his game.

13. Huw Jones – 5

Moved to the wing late and couldn’t find much involvement.

One bright aerial moment, but largely anonymous.

14. Tommy Freeman – 4

Failed HIA late in the first half.

Had minimal impact beforehand, with just four carries and two tackles.

15. Hugo Keenan – 8

Outstanding in the backfield.

Swept up kicks superbly and led the team with 10 carries.

Beat three defenders and had one clean break in a high-class showing.

Replacements

16. Ronan Kelleher – 3

Struggled at the line-out and conceded a yellow card in a tough cameo.

17. Ellis Genge – 7

Immediate impact at scrum time, winning a penalty with his first effort.

Carried hard and brought energy off the bench.

18. Will Stuart – 6

Grabbed a late try and held up well at the set-piece.

Added eight tackles and some decent carries.

19. Ollie Chessum – 6

Solid off the bench, though targeted at lineout time.

Didn’t stand out, but didn’t falter either.

20. Jac Morgan – 7

Scored a sharp try and delivered a key turnover.

One penalty conceded in a generally effective shift.

21. Ben Earl – 7

Added real spark with aggressive carries and lifted the tempo in the final quarter.

22. Alex Mitchell – 5

On late.

Neat hands and good service, but the Lions were chasing shadows by that point.

23. Owen Farrell – 4

Played extended minutes after Freeman’s departure but never looked in sync with the backline.

Did land a couple of booming kicks and tackles.
