Matt Sherratt enters the summer international test season as the interim coach of Wales Rugby as the club takes a tour of Japan starting July 5 and ending July 12.
Sherratt took over for Warren Gatland mid-way through the Six Nations as the proud national team was, and still is, in the midst of a long losing streak.
The Dragons have lost 17 matches in a row and have not won since the 2023 Rugby World Cup pool stage when they beat Georgia on Oct. 7, 43-19.

Sherratt, the head coach of Cardiff Rugby of the United Rugby Championship, oversaw a slight uptick in performance after taking over but still never gained a win.
After nearly five months, however, Wales still has not named a new coach but does have a new director of rugby, Dave Reddin.
Making the trip challenging, outside of facing No. 13-ranked Japan, No. 12-ranked Wales will be without many of their most accomplished players, who are touring Australia with the British and Irish Lions.
For Japan, the team last picked up a win over Uruguay in the 2025 Autumn Nations, 36-20.
The two nations will play twice in Japan, on July 5 and again on July 12. They also will play in the 2025 Autumn Nations.
