Ireland Rugby has never advanced out of the quarterfinals of the Rugby World Cup, despite entering the last two among the favorites to win it all.

Ireland is looking to build depth with young stars to follow the current superstars in 2025.
Ireland, which is ranked No. 3 in the world and has been ranked in the top 3 for years now, has many of its established, veteran and older players touring with the British Irish Lions with the Irish coach, Andy Farrell, leading them.
But the Irish national team isn’t taking the year off.

Ireland faces Georgia at 1 p.m. ET on July 5 at Mikheil Meskhi Stadium in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Then, the Irish will face Portugal at 2 p.m. on July 12 at Estadio Nacional do Jamor in Lisbon.
The team facing Georgia includes six uncapped players, two of whom will start. The team also features younger up-and-coming stars, including Jacob Stockdale and Sam Prendergast, while veterans such as Craig Casey (18 caps), Ryan Baird (27 caps) and Jack Crowley (24 caps) are on the team.

The team is being coached by Paul O’Connell while Farrell coaches the Lions. The interim coach for the Irish during the Six Nations, Simon Easterby, joined Farrell on the Lions staff this summer.
