Scott Robertson’s first season as head coach of the New Zealand All Blacks came with a learning curve.
The legendary Crusaders coach went 10-4 in his debut year leading one of the world’s most successful national rugby teams.
That 10-4 record is the worst through 14 matches among the last five New Zealand head coaches. However, the figure is a bit misleading: the All Blacks enter the 2025 international season ranked No. 2 in the world.

Much of that record reflects how 2024 ended.
The All Blacks beat Ireland in Dublin and Italy in Torino. Their only loss during the Autumn Nations came by one point to a France team led by Antoine Dupont. The French eventual became 2025 Six Nations champions.
Year 2 is a pivotal one for Robertson and the All Blacks, coming two years before the next Rugby World Cup, which will be hosted by rival Australia.
New Zealand will open the 2025 season with three home tests against France. Dupont will miss the series after tearing his ACL against Ireland in the Six Nations. France, currently ranked No. 4, will provide a strong early challenge.

From there, the All Blacks enter one of the world’s toughest competitions: The Rugby Championship, which kicks off in August and streams live on FloRugby.
The season wraps up with a Northern Tour in November, including a high-profile match in Chicago against Ireland, before continuing into Europe for the Autumn Nations.
