Carty, 32, has amassed 1,277 points in 220 appearances since making his debut in 2012, and he remains a cornerstone of the Connacht setup heading into his 14th professional season.
The Roscommon native has been a fixture at fly-half, earning 11 caps for Ireland and representing his country at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
A product of the Connacht development pathway, Carty progressed through Marist College, Athlone and Buccaneers RFC, before joining the province’s academy.
His early rugby career also included stints with the Connacht Eagles in the British and Irish Cup, before making his senior debut as a substitute against the Glasgow Warriors in the 2012-2013 season.
Carty's rise was cemented in 2014 after the retirement of Dan Parks, when he became the club’s first-choice fly-half.
Despite setbacks — including a serious spleen injury in 2016 — he has consistently bounced back, reclaiming his spot in the starting XV and becoming the province’s all-time leading scorer in both the Pro14 and overall competitions.
Beyond rugby, Carty was a standout multi-sport athlete, representing Roscommon in minor Gaelic football and the Republic of Ireland in soccer at under-15 level.
His contract renewal comes ahead of Connacht’s final home game of the season against Edinburgh on Saturday, with the club expected to announce further squad updates in the coming days.
