Leinster Rugby, the powerful club from Dublin, hosts the Saints in the first of two Investec Champions Cup semifinals this weekend and Leinster – with just one loss since losing in the Champions Cup Final in 2024 – hopes to make history.
After that, the team hopes to change the narrative.
Leinster Rugby, the No. 2 club in the world according to FloRugby, has reached three straight Champions Cup Finals and each time was the favorite to win the match. But the squad has gone 0-3 against La Rochelle and Toulouse, with one of those losses even happening at home.
That’s where they’ll play the Saints, the defending Gallagher Premiership champions who are in the semifinals and facing Leinster in the Aviva for the second year in a row.
Last year, the Saints came dangerously close to pulling off the biggest upset of the tournament, losing 20-17 in Dublin.
While Leinster has dominated nearly every club since the new URC and Champions Cup season started late last year, the Saints have struggled outside Champions Cup play and sit seventh on the Premiership table.
But in Champions Cup play, the Saints went 3-0-1 in Pool 3 play, before crushing Clermont and Castres in the first two playoff rounds.

The 2025 Investec Champions Cup final will take place Saturday, May 24 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
