Antoine Dupont has a chance to cement his legacy as one of the greatest rugby players of all-time at the 2024 Investec Champions Cup Final at 9:45 a.m. Eastern on May 25 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

The 27-year-old scrumhalf has led Toulouse Rugby, or Stade Toulousain, to Investec Champions Cup title before, and he’ll join an elite list of rugby superstars to do it twice, if Toulouse can beat United Rugby Championship power Leinster Rugby.

Already a video game cover star, the French star captain and No. 9 for Toulouse Rugby has had a sensational career before he has even hit his 30s. He led the French national team to a Six Nations Grand Slam, led Toulouse to Three Top 14 titles and a Champions Cup.

This summer Dupont will try to win Olympic Gold at the Paris Games in Rugby 7s competition.

“Antoine Dupont is possibly the greatest player of the past decade and will possibly end his career as the best of the professional era,” said FloRugby analyst and reporter Philip Bendon. “Based purely on individual talent he is on a par with the great All Black duo of Dan Carter and Richie McCaw in my personal opinion.”

Here are five things to know about Antoine Dupont before he and Toulouse face Leinster Rugby.

Antoine Dupont Began Playing Rugby When He Was 4

Dupont is from Lannemezan, France and began playing for Magnoac FC when he was 4 years old. As a teenager, he played junior rugby for Auch.

Antoine Dupont Started Career At Castres

Dupont joined Castres Olympique in 2014, the same year he graduated from high school, and made his Top 14 debut for Castres that year. He played 61 games for Castres from 2014-2017.

Antoine Dupont Breaks Through After Move To Toulouse Rugby

Dupont, who graduated from Paul Sabatier University in 2018, moved to Toulouse in 2017, and his professional career took off with Stade Toulousain.

That same year, he made his debut on the French senior national team at the Six Nations and has been considered one of the best rugby players in the world ever since.

Here Are All The Awards Antoine Dupont Has Won

Not only has he led his team to three Top 14 titles, a Six Nations Grand Slam and a Champions Cup, he’s been a staple on the World Rugby Player of the Year ballot and the Champions Cup Player of the Year ballot almost every year since 2017. Here’s a list of Indvidual honors:

  • 2021 World Rugby Men’s 15s Player of the Year
  • 2020, 2022, 2023 Six Nations Player of the Championship
  • 2021 European Professional Club Rugby Player of the Year
  • 2021, 2022, 2023 Nuit du rugby International Player of the Season
  •  2021, 2023 Nuit du rugby Player of the Season:
  • 2017 Nuit du rugby Breakthrough Player of the Season

Antoine Dupont Became A Video Game Cover Athlete On Rugby 22

Alongside Will Skelton and Cheslin Kolbe, Dupont was on the cover of EA Sports’ Rugby 22 video game in 2021.

The video game was just one of Dupont’s various endorsement deals. His deals include:

  • Land Rover
  • Tissot
  • Adidas
  • Volvic
  • Peugeot

Antoine Dupont Is Not The Highest Paid Rugby Player. He’s Not Even The Highest Paid In Top 14

Dupont may have a viable claim to the title as “best player in the world,” but he is not the highest paid rugby player in the world. That is Finn Russell. The Scottish star signed with Gallagher Premiership team Bath Rugby last offseason to take the title.

Dupont is the eighth-highest paid rugby player in the world and is behind Toulon’s Dan Biggar, soon to be Racing 92 star Owen Farrell and Racing 92 and South African star Siya Kolisi as the highest-paid Top 14 player.
