Welsh Rugby Union Receive Major Backlash For Twitter Post Shaming Player
Welsh Rugby Union receive backlash for a Twitter post blasting player Rhys Carre in the wake of his release from the Welsh Rugby World Cup training squad.
It has been a rough old road for Welsh Rugby over the past couple of seasons.
Struggling both on and off the field of play, having faced significant financial challenges, serious workplace misconduct accusations and heavy defeats. It feels like a lifetime ago that the Welsh were one of the top sides in World Rugby.
Now firmly in their build-up process towards the Rugby World Cup, Warren Gatlandโs side has been working with the nationโs top players in a preliminary World Cup squad.
Having seen three senior stars, Alun Wyn Jones, Justin Tipuric and Rhys Webb, rather abruptly retire, there have been murmurings of an unhappy camp.
This comes on the heels of a threatened strike by Welsh players during the Six Nations following uncertainty surrounding players' financial future given the struggles the Union was facing.
The 2019 Rugby World Cup semi-finalists have now hit a new landmark that many fans online have taken exception to.
A bright spark for Gatland and his rebuilding squad has been 25-year-old Prop Rhys Carre. Now twenty caps deep into his career and on the precipice of featuring at a second World Cup, Carre was meant to be the anchor for the Welsh scrum for the next decade.
Yet, in a rather head-scratching turn of events, not only has he been released from the Welsh squad, but he has also been put on blast by the WRU official Twitter account.

Another reason why @NigelWalkerWRU and @ieuan_evans14 should not put themselves forward for CEO and Chair roles, respectively.
Negative evidence is stacking up against them week after week after week.
You deserve to lose players and matches.

Publicly shaming him?

Welsh Rugby doesn't help itself does it? This is really poor player management in my book.
