Brumbies and 12-times capped Wallaby Noah Lolesio was a shock omission from Eddie Jones’s first Wallaby camp that assembled in April. 

The 23-year-old playmaker has shown great promise over the past few seasons and such his demotion for Melbourne Rebels flyhalf Carter Gordon raised a few eyebrows. 

Gordon who is 22-years-old has been one of the Australian standouts this year and many felt both players would be included. 

Thus, as Lolesio sprinted over for a well taken Brumbies try, he poured his emotion out for the camera to see. 

Shouting “Carter Gordon?” clearly alluding to the fact that he felt he should not have been leapfrogged. 

Speaking at halftime, Gordon had a direct response for his rival saying: “It’s a bit personal this game but I will keep it on the field.” 

The encounter between the two young playmakers across the 80-minutes bad for an exciting subplot. 

Backing his young playmaker, legendary Wallabies flyhalf and current Brumbies head coach Stephen Larkham said: "He didn't (mention it was personal) but it's good to see. He's super competitive, there's no doubt about that," Larkham said. 

"He's someone that wants to be better and better every week and we see that at training. 

"He's challenging himself at training, challenging the guys around him and it's good to see that bit of passion come out with his emotions there. I didn't see (his comments) at halftime but obviously when he scored that try it was good to see." 

With years of evidence to suggest that Jones likes a bit of niggle from his players, this development will certainly please the wily Wallabies coach as he plots his assault on this year’s Rugby World Cup.

Lolesio missed out on Eddie Jones’ first Wallabies squad as Gordon was included.
