First-year college players have to work especially hard to make an impact this early in the season, as most are learning a new system, getting to know new teammates, and adjusting to college life.

In this week's list of the top freshman performances, each player has shown the ability to make those adjustments really quickly.

Anthony Adamcheck

Starting as Penn State's loosehead prop, Adamcheck was a standout for Fairfield Prep in Connecticut and picked up right where he left off with the Nittany Lions, scoring a try against Notre Dame College in a 43-17 Penn State victory this past weekend.

"Anthony has played his way into a starting spot and he's been very solid," Penn State head coach Justin Hundley said. "He's reacted well to the change in environment, and he handled the pressure of college rugby very well. It'll be exciting to see what he can do over the next four years."

Shane Palmer

Playing for the University of Connecticut, Palmer scored two tries as the Huskies beat Tufts 48-26.

Brandon Asbel, Lucas Robinson, and Ralph Tirivanhu

Three freshmen put in important minutes for Davenport as the Panthers emerged 44-22 victors over Buffalo.

Sam Johnson

Coming out of Power Center Academy in Memphis, Johnson has been coming off the bench for Lindenwood-Belleville, which beat Wisconsin 38-14 over the weekend. Head coach Pat Clifton said "every time he comes on he makes an immediate impact."

Harrison Dulgarian

The central playmaker for a championship Mira Costa High School team in Southern California, Dulgarian is now starting at scrumhalf for the University of Alabama and was excellent in the Tides' 38-17 win over Florida. Recent Alabama grad and now coach Ross Depperschmidt said, "Harrison Dulgarian did a tremendous job as field general and controlling the flow of our offense."

Richie Terranova

Fairfield rallied for a 26-24 win against UMass but needed three tries to complete the comeback. After the Stags tied the game at 24, Terranova whacked over the clutch conversion, his third of the day, to seal the victory.

Conor Yelseth
