The Silicon Valley 7s pools have been set.

The tournament, which is an international 7s warmup for the Sevens World Series, will be held Nov. 4-5 at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, CA.

The field includes 12 national 7s teams and marks the first time that squads from the island nations of Tonga, Samoa and Fiji will be in the same tournament since the 2007 USA Sevens. It is also the first time the Irish national 7s squad will play in the United States and will be the last international tune-up for rising nations Canada and the United States and traditional powers such as New Zealand, Japan, and Australia before the 2017-18 HSBC World Sevens Series.

The Silicon Valley 7s will also mark the first time the Chinese national team will appear in the United States.

Pool A will have natural rivals England and Ireland along with Canada and Samoa.

Pool B will include Olympic champion Fiji going up against rival Australia, along with a rare matchup between Japan and China.

Pool C will have the home team, the USA, matched up with New Zealand, along with Tonga taking on South American power Chile.

"We feel that the structure of the pool for this event will bring forth some of the great natural rivalries in the global Olympic sport of Rugby 7s and should be very exciting both for the nations involved and the thousands of fans who love the fast-growing game of rugby sevens here in the United States," tournament director Jon Hinkin said.

"It will be a great first look at as these athletes ready for 2018 and even the Rugby World Cup 7s and the Olympics in 2020."

In addition to 34 international men's matches, the event will feature 20 collegiate matches, an international cultural festival, and an island concert series. Tickets start at just $55 and are available now at SevensRugby.com.

Ireland is going to be a huge wild card in this tournament. But even so, Pool A looks to be a tough one, with an improving Canada looking to overtake England and Samoa also a force.

Fiji and Australia look to be the class of Pool B, with China perhaps just getting a taste of this level of international competition. In Pool C, New Zealand and the USA have a solid rivalry going. Chile is fast and kicks well, while Tonga's physicality means every game will be challenging.
