Some prominent names populate the Republic of Texas All-Stars team set to take on the Liberty Conference selects in Bermuda next week, including capped Eagles, All-Americans, and conference champions.

Coach Rick Medina has assembled a squad of under-23 standouts from Texas and nearby states to participate in the curtain-raiser for the USA Islanders versus Saracens game on August 10. Both matchups are streaming live on FloRugby.

The games will also be a fundraiser for promoter John Layfield's Beyond Rugby charity, which assists at-risk youth in Bermuda.

Among the players slated to suit up is Brennan Falcon, the No. 8 and captain of LSU who took them to the Red River Conference final last season. Daemon Torres also looks to set up at lock. The Life University player was on the USA U20 team this past spring. He played his high school rugby in Texas.

At prop, Mason Pedersen is a former University of Arizona player who was a USA U20 and Collegiate All-American selection and also played with the Austin Huns on their 2017 championship run.

Patrick Medina was a recent standout for Lake Travis High School in Rugby Texas, while Parker Vincent looks to suit up at wing and kick goals. Vincent did exactly that in helping Baylor to a Red River Conference championship.

And perhaps we've saved the most notable for last in the Austin Huns' Hanco Germishuys, who is slated to play somewhere in the forwards. The former USA U20 captain is a fully capped Eagle and has also been getting a look with the USA sevens team.

It's a very talented USA Islanders squad, and its big job will be getting all the pieces to come together in short order. But they've got the ability to win the ball and score points, and that's an excellent start.
