The USA Rugby South Panthers program is sending four teams to the North American Invitational 7s in Salt Lake City this week.



Under the eye of program director Mark Williams, the Panthers will field teams in the boys U14, U16, U18 Open, and U18 Elite competitions. Filling the rosters took some doing, since several players who were at the Rugby Americas North U19 Championships in 15s last month are unable to play on Friday and Saturday due to injury or other commitments.

However, shifty scrumhalf Diego Haro, hard-running center Zach Rademacker, powerful prop Muhammad Abdullah, and High School All-American flanker Cameron Tompkins all will be on the Elite squad and all played on the South first team that won the RAN U19 title over Mexico.

In addition, Alec Burcham and Juan Pourrain were also part of the USA South second team that finished fifth at the RAN. 

"It's hard to know how we'll do, but this is a really good tournament to give more players exposure to a high level," Williams said.

Williams and Daan Pretorius run the U18 Elite team, while John Watson takes care of the U18 Open squad. Ron Vargo coaches the U16s, and Mark Patterson  leads the U14s.
