Girls HS All-Star Rankings: RMC, GNC Teams Rise To The Top
Girls high school all-star rugby is still struggling with getting varsity teams on the field.

There is a lot more girls rugby around the country than is represented by the all-star teams. Most of the Regional Cup Tournament events had just a small number of girls varsity teams: Northeast had three; Midwest had three; and the South had zero. The two really big tournaments, the Rocky Mountain Challenge and Great Northwest Challenge, had five each, which is good. We are ranking based on those 16 teams plus three more at the Ruck in Rock Hill, where the Southern teams attended.

We based our rankings on each team's win-loss record but also on our own opinions on the general quality of the opposition. Most of the games we tracked were shortened -- 22 1/2-minute halves. Some of the Great Northwest Challenge games were even shorter than that, and perhaps that's the only thing that prevented an excellent Oregon Red Hawks team from being No. 1.

In the end, we know that there's a solid pool of talent among the GNC and RMC teams, and those two are at the top.
