The London-based Saracens will face a new team of veteran USA island-based high performance rugby athletes. Saracens will be in Bermuda for their preseason training.
The Aviva Premiership team has a strong connection with the USA, what with several Eagles having played for the club or playing now (including current USA prop Titi Lamositele), and having a partnership with the Seattle Saracens club.
The London-based pro club will hold its preseason in Bermuda. International businessman and Bermuda RFU Chairman Gareth Nokes was instrumental in getting Saracens to use Bermuda as their training ground, and thus helping support charitable efforts for local youth through the Beyond Rugby Program.
The Islander team is the adaptation of long-time rugby dreamers Bruce McLean and Rob Holder. Both conceived the notion based on the New Zealand Maori concept of native islanders playing with their own team.
Bermuda National Stadium is a multi-purpose sports complex in Devonshire Parish, Bermuda, just to the east of the capital, Hamilton. The stadium was built on what was once a field used as a parade and sporting ground within Prospect Camp.

Atlantic Rugby Cup
A USA Islander team is set to face defending European Cup Champions Saracens August 10 in Bermuda and this will be a huge opportunity for some of these players to showcase their talent and skill.
The game will benefit Beyond Rugby, an initiative to benefit youth in Bermuda. The initiative was founded by John Layfield, retired professional wrestler and current WWE commentator."This is 100% about reaching at-risk kids," said Layfield. "Everything we do is about that. We use rugby to allow us to influence kids lives."
Collegaite All-Star Rugby Cup
The Collegiate All-Star Rugby Cup will be held in Bermuda just prior to the greatly anticipated Saracens of London vs. USA Islanders at 5:30p local time on August 10th 2017. The inaugural Cup will feature an all-star team from the newly formed Liberty Rugby Conference against the Republic of Texas All-Stars.
The Republic of Texas All-Stars will draw from collegiate-age talent throughout the State of Texas, while the Liberty All-Stars will choose their players from the new Liberty Rugby Conference.
The Liberty Conference consists of teams from University of Delaware, Iona College, Fordham University, Rutgers University, Stony Brook University, The University at Albany, Syracuse University, Colgate University, Binghamton University, The College at Brockport, Rhode Island University, Tufts University, Fairfield University, Boston College, UMass, Northeastern University, and UConn.
