After failing to get enough votes to join the Rocky Mountain D1A conference, BYU has reportedly received a second chance.

This all came about because Utah wants to play in two conferences. The Utes had made it plain they wanted to play a full conference schedule in both the Rocky Mountain (the fall) and the PAC Rugby Conference (in the spring). But at least one coach from one school (we haven't confirmed who) complained to the D1A governing committees and insisted that Utah, and in fact any team, choose to compete in a single conference.

And that's how it all shook down. Utah was forced to make a choice and decided to play in the PAC. The Utes have tried to keep their Rocky Mountain fixtures and have been largely successful in doing so. Meanwhile, with Utah now officially out of the Rocky Mountain and other teams given a chance to think about their previous votes, BYU was awarded a second chance to join the conference, if only as an associate member.

This time, the Cougars program got the required two-thirds majority vote, and is, according to more than one source, back in a conference in D1A. 

Utah, meanwhile, still has Wyoming, Colorado, Colorado State, New Mexico, and Utah State on its schedule. Utah Valley is an associate member, like BYU.
